About this event

Youth Groups: get your walk on for a great cause this fall!  The NFCLYO is having the CROP Walk 2009 Challenge!  (CROP=Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty)  Get your group together for a CROP Walk to raise awareness and money to help fight hunger both at home and around the world.  Go all out: your group can walk together, get in costume, face-paint, whatever...have fun with it!

You can either find your local CROP Walk online at www.cropwalk.org, or you can walk with the CORE Team at the Lancaster/Depew CROP Walk on Sunday, October 18 at 1pm.

Be creative with your walk, and collect as much as you can.  The NFCLYO youth group that collects the most money will be recognized online and in the next issue of Happenings!!!  We have a Facebook page with this event to post your group's involvement and total raised, along with any pictures you take!

Want to go?  Here's How!

1.  Get info:  Go to www.cropwalk.org if your group prefers to walk in a CROP Walk local to you.  You'll find communities with CROP Walks, and their dates.

2.  Want company on your walk?:  Want to join in walking with the CORE Team?  Great!  Meet us at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lancaster (click here for directions) at 1 pm on Sunday, October 18, as we participate in the Lancaster/Depew CROP Walk.  If your church group is joining us on this walk,  then everyone coming must come in a group of no more than 9 youth per adult chaperone.  Please RSVP to Rick, the Director of Youth Programming by either calling or texting to (716) 465-1321 or email at info@nfclyo.org no later than Wednesday, October 14.  There is no advance registration form to complete or deposit to send in for this event.

3.  Collect sponsors and donations:  Go to www.cropwalk.org to find out the best way for your group to collect donations.  You may be able to get donation envelopes to seek out sponsors with at your home church.  Or another neat way to to this is by creating your own group's personal page that people can make online contributions to.

4.  Online collection option!:  If your group sets up an online page, that's all you need to do to collect donations.  If you are doing it the "old fashioned" way by collecting donations and sponsors in person, follow the directions on the collection envelope and bring it all with you to the walk you are participating in.

5.  Be sure to register:  Regardless of the walk you are participating in, be sure to stop by the registration site before walking...they will have the route for your walk and may even have food and drink available.

6.  Let everyone know how you did on Facebook!:  Stop by the Niagara Frontier Conference Lutheran Youth Organization fan page on Facebook!  There you will find an event posting for the CROP Walk Challenge, where you can write your group's involvement and total raised on the wall, post pictures, and have fun!
